Anti-Bullying Bill Passed By North Carolina House

The North Carolina House voted yesterday to approve a bill that identifies potential bullying targets in public schools.
The Associated Press reports the bill was approved with a 58-57 vote, and Governor Bev Perdue said she would likely sign the bill into law.
The bill would require schools to create a list of policies by the end of the year that would identify characteristics of a person who would be likely to be bullied. The lists would include race, religion, physical appearance, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
The A.P. reports 11 other states already have enforce laws that designed to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students from being bullied.
