One Dead, Two Wounded in Baltimore Lesbian Bar Shooting

Baltimore Police are saying a 25-year-old woman was fatally shot and two other women were wounded early Saturday morning in shooting outside a well-known lesbian nightclub in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of that city.

Police are still looking for the woman who did the shooting.

According to police reports, Sctario Tia Edwards of Baltimore had apparently bumped the shooter on the dance floor of the Coconuts Café located at West Madison Street and Linden Avenue in Baltimore.

Around 2 a.m., after the club closed for the night, the victim left and was getting into a car when a dark colored SUV pulled up. The woman who had been bumped on the dance floor stepped out the SUV and approached Edwards who was outside the car from behind, and then began beating her on the head with a metal pipe.

A fight ensued between the two woman, and the attacker then returned to the SUV, got a handgun, and shot Edwards multiple times. Police say Edwards tried to run, but the as yet unidentified shooter chased her down, then stood over her and fired at her again. The attacker then shot through a window of the car, wounding the second victim in the hand. A third woman who was standing nearby was also hit by stray gunfire but wasn’t seriously injured.

Edwards died later at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The shooter is described as a light skinned black female, about 5?6-5?7, weighing over 200 pounds. Witness said she also has long dreadlocks.

Baltimore Police are asking anyone with information about this shooting to please call 410-396-2100.
