Lt. Dan Choi Speaks To Kathy Griffin About Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Lt. Dan Choi was invited on stage by Kathy Griffin at an HRC rally in DC today. Dan spoke about the need for leadership from the White House and the President on Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and then urged the crowd to join him and march to the White House to send the President a message. In fact, the several hundred in the crowd did join Dan when he walked to the White House to handcuff himself to the White House fence, and subsequently be arrested along with Pvt. James Pietrangelo.

Kathy Griffin and Joe Solmonese Ignore Lt. Dan Choi

Lt Dan Choi asked celebrity Kathy Griffin in Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese to join him today on his march to the White House to protest the President's ambivalence on Don't Ask Don't Tell. While Griffin had previously told the crowd she would march with him, and while Solmonese had reportedly given Choi the thumbs up in responsive to his invite, both ignored Choi when he approached them after the rally. They claimed to be educating the crowd about activism - in fact it was a photo op, as you'll see in this short video.
