If you believe her, this whole lesbian thing wasn't a misguided attempt to gain publicity, or a big middle finger to all the greasy men who have floated in and out of her life. Lindsay Lohan just happened to fall in love with a girl - and it shocked her as much as it shocked the rest of us. "I never really thought about women before, it kind of just happened with Samantha. It surprised me," she revealed in part two of her candid interview with British tabloid The Sun.
The "Samantha" in question is, of course, 32-year-old British DJ Samantha Ronson, whom Lohan embarked on a rocky relationship with in 2008. The romance had its fair share of ups and down, including numerous pubic screaming matches, before the pair finally called in quits for good in the spring of 2009. Despite the media portrayal of their relationship as a big sobby, screaming mess, Lohan says that they were happy together. "Mostly it was great. Everyone has ups and downs, it's normal. But in front of the public eye they're going to take the downs and make it seem like they're a million times worse. That comes with the territory."
But now that it's over, Lohan won't be rebounding with another girl. "If I wasn't with Samantha, I would probably be with a boy next. She's the only woman I've been attracted to," she claims.
Addressing the cause for the split, she points a finger at Ronson's meddlesome family. She tells The Sun, "Her family is very involved in her relationships and that was difficult. I think Samantha was growing as a celebrity and a musician and I think that might have scared her family. But I've always been her biggest supporter and, yeah, I love her.
"All the fighting stuff was just because all her friends had got involved and made me an outcast, which wasn't fair to Samantha. I think it was a jealousy thing in terms of her becoming more famous than the rest of them.
But she still has some hope for them in the future: "We love each other. We might reconcile the relationship, maybe. I don't know... She kind of does what she wants now. It's changed, so who's to say we won't be together again?"
As for her numerous affairs with men before she met Ronson, she's quick to brush most of them off. She admits a brief fling with Irish actor
Colin Farrell saying only that it was "a long time ago," and she laughs off her relationship with U.K. TV personality Calum Best saying it was "over really quickly and not worth talking about."
But she shuts down when asked about another rumored flame -
Heath Ledger. "That's kind of a touchy subject. Sorry," she replies. "He was a really good friend to me for a long time and it was really sad when that happened."
